Treasure Boxes: Sterling Silver and 14/20 Gold-filled Earrings

Can you remember opening an elder's jewelry box to find a tangle of faux pearls, rings sparkling with marcasite that you were just sure were diamonds, single earrings- probably clip-ons, and fancy brooches?  These treasure box earrings have mis-matched collections of 'treasures' I had a lot of fun making.  Teesny gold and silver bars, tiny coils, bits of chain, moonstones and tourmaline, tiny hearts in silver or vermeil.  Kind of a mess but a super cool mess contained in a square wire 'box'. 

Sterling Silver box, 14/20 Gold-filled earwire. Treasures are combinations of the same plus a few stones here and there and maybe a vermeil piece (14k gold over sterling) and at least one heart shaped charm
