Fiddleback Maple

A Big Leaf Maple was felled in my driveway then cut up for firewood by my good friend David Taber, a wood worker, who noticed within it fabulous, undulating and shimmery patterns known variously as Fiddleback, Flame, or Tiger maple. Longtime fans of each other’s work, we decided to pair our skills with metal and wood. David cuts & sands the shapes; I create a rivet to merge them with metal then finishes the wood with natural wax.  Slight variations in pattern and size (within 1/16") as they are hand cut from a slab of a real tree.
