Wings: Wood, Garnet, Sterling Silver, 14/20 Gold-filled

Often we give encouragement to our young people- after a graduation, for example- by reciting the saying "Spread your wings", and this saying is quite obviously a reference to fledgling birds.  But did you know that wings are also evidence of an invertebrates final molt, their transition into adulthood?  An equally beautiful and accurate natural parallel to the concept of personal growth.

These book matched designs when replicated are within about 1/16", but wood color and patterning varies.

3mm garnet cabochon, 14/20 gold-filled circle, and sterling silver earwires. Big leaf maple with fiddleback patterning.  The wood has been treated with oil & beeswax
